Our ten-day tour will introduce you to some of Malawi's most captivating scenery, people and animals.

Our tour will be focusing on central and southern Malawi, taking us from the capital Lilongwe to the shores of beautiful Lake Malawi and down to Thyolo Mountain's tea estates before we take in the fantastic vistas from Zomba Plateau. Finally, we will be spending three days in the company of Malawi's incredible wildlife at Liwonde National Park, one of the country's true gems, before heading back up to the lake for a final bit of R&R.

 Here is a summary of what awaits you on your trip: 

  

  • DAY 

1 - SENGA BAY

Pickup from Lilongwe International Airport in morning

Transfer to Senga Bay on Lake Malawi

Welcome drinks and dinner

Accommodation: Livingstonia Beach Hotel - Lake Malawi's oldest hotel set amidst beautiful grounds with a private beach overlooking the lake

  • DAY 

2 - SATEMWA TEA ESTATE 

Transfer to Satemwa Tea Estate near Thyolo

Afternoon photography workshop

Optional visit to tea factory

Accommodation: Huntingdon House - a beautifully refurbished 1920s colonial estate set in the midst of rolling tea plantations

  • DAY 

3 - SATEMWA TEA ESTATE

Morning photography workshop

Drive to the foothills of Mount Mulanje

Afternoon photography workshop

Drive up Thyolo Mountain to capture the surrounding scenery

Accommodation: Huntingdon House

  • DAY 

4 - ZOMBA PLATEAU

Transfer to Zomba in time for lunch

Afternoon drive around Zomba Plateau

Afternoon photography feedback session

Accommodation: Ku Chawe Inn - set in beautiful gardens with magnificent views stretching as far as Mount Mulanje on a clear day

  • DAY 5

 - LIWONDE NATIONAL PARK

Morning photography workshop

Transfer to Liwonde National Park after lunch

River-boat transfer from Liwonde Barrage to Mvuu Camp

Afternoon/sunset game drive

  • DAY 

6 - LIWONDE NATIONAL PARK

Sunrise bush walk

Morning river boat safari

Afternoon photography workshop

Afternoon/sunset game drive

Accommodation: Mvuu Camp - rustic camp consisting of ensuite chalets on the banks of the Shire River, where hippo, croc and elephant abound!

7 - LIWONDE NATIONAL PARK

Sunrise bush walk

Morning river boat safari

Afternoon photography workshop

Afternoon/sunset game drive

Accommodation: Mvuu Camp

8 - SOUTHERN LAKESHORE

Sunrise bush walk

Visit to Nanthomba School

Transfer to Lake Malawi's southern lakeshore

Sunset boat trip

Accommodation: Norman Carr Cottage - beautiful rooms with charming dining deck overlooking Lake Malawi

 - LILONGWE

Sunrise shoot

Morning boat trip to capture fish eagles

Transfer to Lilongwe after lunch

Final photography feedback session

Farewell dinner

Accommodation: upmarket guest house near Lilongwe's Capital Hill
